Myself and my roommate are big fans of “window face”.
Window face is the almost smile, slight raising of the lips into the direction of a smile but not full smile, and no teeth. This is the face we use for looking out the window.
We discovered that we both do this as well as many others while we were riding on a bus in
Malawi, both looking out the window with the token, “window face”. There is a reason behind “window face”, that being that we don’t want to look mad or sad or apathetic when walking down the street or looking out the window. Any given person could look at us with normal resting face and given the lack of expression think that we are mad, sad or apathetic and no ones wants that.
SO, this is where window face comes in. With the half, almost smile, one can be seen as pleasant and not mad, sad or apathetic.
ALSO, this is great for being on campus or with run-ins with maybe acquaintances, people you may or may not have been formally introduced to, may or may not have taken a class with, or may or may not be interested in. Window face allows one to acknowledge this acquaintanceship, but if there is no recognition by the passerby, then there is no loss to you. You just appear pleasant. You may even end up as a Craig’s List missed connection J
It’s genius. Why would anyone not love window face?
